THE fine banqueting hall of the George Hotel disappeared in the 1990s to make way for The George Shopping Centre.

This picture was probably taken in about 1950-1951, as heading the top table is Susan Brace, who at the time was Mayor of Grantham.
Also in the picture are Mr T. H. B. Whiting, Mr N. C. Earle, Coun Cant and Mr H. Atkinson, which suggests it may have something to do with Aveling Barford.
Does any reader know which organisation is having dinner, or recognise any other guests.

The school is now Little Gonerby Infants.
The picture was sent in by A. L. Ashdown, of Ottery St Mary, Devon, who is second from the right, back row.
Other members of the team he recognises are Ken Harrall, Alan Richardson, Len Bullock and John Baxter.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD LARGE VERSIONTHESE men were at the King's School Old Boys' Society annual reunion dinner held at Harlaxton Manor in December, 1990.
They are, from left – scriptwriter Howard Imber (old boy), David Gregory (science teacher), Ian Walters (society president), Derek Lee (King's headmaster) and Frank Bolton (society vice-president).
The picture was supplied by Mrs Panks, of Dudley Road, Grantham, with information supplied by Howard.
Three ladies from the library are identifiedTHE three women from the library (Memory Lane, March 14) have been identified by Howard Imber, of Grantham, and Margaret Johnson, of Allington.
At the back is Sheila Smith, of Harlaxton Road, daughter of former Mayor of Grantham Tom Smith. Front left is Jane Gray (nee Measures), now of Radcliffe-on-Trent, and Audrey Dickinson, who lives in South Africa.
Mrs Johnson said she was to be in the photograph, but she lived at Long Bennington and couldn't get there that day.
