Lorry hits Springfield Road bridge

Wednesday, 12.30pm - A LORRY hit the bridge in Springfield Road, Grantham, at about 11.30am today.
Police were called after the Dutch-registered vehicle hit the railway bridge.

The Journal set up the It's a Low Bridge Stoopid campaign to cut the number of accidents at the town's bridges.

Grantham has three of Networks Rail's top ten most-hit bridges, causing huge disruption for road users and train passengers.

In response to the campaign, Network Rail added huge warning signs to bridges in Springfield Road, Harlaxton Road and Barrowby Road.
