I can only dream of the developments Grantham needs
I was pleased to see that planners have blocked the development applications on the land of St Catherine’s House and the former Shirley Croft Hotel site.
Grantham simply has to capitalise on Mrs T’s legacy
The last few weeks have been awash with talk of Mrs T: from the Meryl Streep’s touching performance of the effects of old age, to calls locally for a fitting memorial to this much maligned local girl. For many the thought of a substantial monument to one of the towering figures of the 20th century is too dangerous to even contemplate, while to others an opportunity to capitalise on her name for more fiscal purposes not to be missed.
Boys ignore warnings not to play on the frozen canal
JUST a day after the Journal reported the heroic rescue of a boy from the frozen Grantham Canal, these boys were spotted flouting our warnings.

FEBRUARY is a month of spending time in the kitchen with Shrove Tuesday (pancake day) and National Chip Week, February 20 - 26, but all too often Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is being called out to extinguish fires in the kitchen caused by the chef being too easily distracted.

I received excellent care in hospital after recently suffering a stroke

Thanks for making Valentine’s dance amazing
NOW is the time to push out a thank you letter, starting with the Grantham Journal, for the good spread of adverts for our St Valentine’s dance at the college last Saturday.
Is anyone listening to wind turbine fears?
Since the erection of the Frinckley Farm Wind wind turbine, and noting the application to SKDC for a Wind Turbine installation at Allington, villagers in the Carlton Scroop, Normanton and Barkston areas have become increasingly concerned about the unfettered proliferation of such visually destructive developments in the rolling landscape of South Kesteven.

We have recently moved back to Grantham. We thought we would treat ourselves for lunch at The Goose at the Bank. The menu gives a good variety of meal options, all at a very reasonable price.
Nigel Doughty has truly inspired me
As a Forest fan I was obviously aware of Nigel’s huge affection for the club and his considerable investment from his personal wealth.
Simply saying thank you sometimes does not come close to being enough
THANK YOU sometimes seem so inadequate a word when used to show gratification in a given situation. Such is the opinion of the majority of the population when the subject of the NHS comes into the conversation.

We rejected KFC plan for the good of Grantham
I READ your provocative comment column with interest as I was one of the committee who rejected the proposed KFC development because the ‘style of building was not to our taste’.
1 commentI feel sadness at what our town has become
I WAS born in Grantham in 1947 and have spent all of my life here. I have always felt fortunate to live in such a clean, attractive market town. However, much of its charm and so many of its amenities have disappeared over the past few years, and been replaced with rubbish in doorways and streets and unkempt, empty buildings and a lack of care generally.
KFC developer will just appeal decision anyway
WITH reference to the article relating to the Development Control Meeting regarding the KFC decision, it does say that the Isaac Newton Pub has got planning permission for demolition which is correct.
Our authorities have got priorities totally wrong
In reply to the lady’s demand to know what is going to happen to these poor eldely people who need care.
Not singing our anthem is a national disgrace
When I was a kid in the 1950s our schools taught us the National Anthem. I know the words by heart. I can also remember the National Anthem always being played after the very last TV programme, and after the last film at the cinema.

Poor grades are not linked to free meals
