Nora Hardwick, 106th Birthday. 975B
Local celebrity Nora Hardwick has died, aged 106.
Nora, who lived at home in Ancaster until earlier this year, passed away in hospital yesterday (Sunday).
Well-known in the village, having moved there in 1933, Nora went on to hit headlines worldwide after posing for a risque charity calendar four years ago, even travelling to America to appear on the Jay Leno Show.
She went on to receive many invitations to open events and was asked along to functions as a special guest.
Nora used to write the news when she was the Grantham Journal’s Ancaster village correspondent, once providing a great scoop when her son-in-law saved a man from drowning.
She went on to appear in the Journal many times, including last year as she celebrated her 106th birthday. She is pictured on her special day with the card she received from the Queen.
A funeral service will be held at St Martin’s Church in Ancaster on Monday, November 12, at 1.30pm, followed by cremation. Family flowers only, donations to Ancaster Surgery and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
