Cllr did us proud on academy issue
Common Sense prevailed at the Lincolnshire County Council Planning and Regulation Committee with regard to the planning application put forward for the rebuild of the Priory Ruskin Academy.
Cllr Ray Wootten represented local residents with a very eloquent and succinct case on their behalf. His opening statement iterated that the local residents were, in general, in favour of the academy and the educational uplift for the local children.
He demonstrated using photographs and also explained the problems of the traffic gridlock that occurs on a regular basis.
With a projected increase of pupils to 1,250, and no extra traffic routes, the problem can only get worse and residents felt that insufficient consideration had been given to their views.
I can only concur with the opinions that he presented. Thankfully, the planning committee also believed that insufficient consideration to the traffic plan and environmental energy issues had been presented, and that led the committee to a unanimous vote in favour of a deferral.
I can only hope that, given this second chance to give more credence to the local residents’ views, that both the Priory Ruskin Academy and Shepherd Construction can provide a mutually acceptable solution to the traffic plan.
I am still in favour of the academy rebuild, but strongly believe that a better traffic plan must be applied to avoid further gridlock on our already busy roads.
