FRIENDS of Richard Durham, who died in a motorbike accident two years ago, held a charity football and pool match in his memory at the weekend.

The events raised £200, which will be used to create a memorial to Mr Durham.

Pat King, who is landlady of The Cherry Tree, in Harrowby Lane, Grantham, helped organise the events along with Craig Newcombe.

She said: “It went brilliantly, it was a lovely day. We just wanted to do something to help.

“The football was absolutely fantastic and we’d like to thank everyone that took part, including the referee Gianni Angeloni.”

Craig rang a group of Mr Durham’s friends to see if they would take part in the match and there was a big response, which gave them 14 players for each side.

In the end the red team beat the white team 7-6.

Pat said: “It was lovely to get together. He was a real
character. We are pleased to have raised £200 from us to Rick.”
