VOLUNTEERS working to reopen Grantham Museum have launched a membership scheme to help raise much needed funds.

The scheme will offer people the chance to become a ‘Friend of Grantham Museum’ by paying a £15 (£7.50 for senior citizens, students and under-18s) annual fee.

The donation will give members advanced entry into events, discounts on a range of gifts that will be available when the museum is re-opened and a welcome pack with further details on the project.

Georgia Gibson, of the Grantham Community Heritage Association, the charity looking to reopen the museum, said: “Launching this membership scheme is an important step for Grantham Museum and builds upon the welcome letter of support from the Prime Minister. For as little as £15 people can join Grantham Museum, share in the town’s history and make a vital contribution to the re-opening of the museum.”

People can also choose to sign up for lifetime membership for £150.

Proceeds from the membership subscriptions will be used to help re-open the museum in time to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on the weekend of the June 2, 2012. It is hoped the subscriptions will enable the museum to start generating the financial support that is needed to secure its long-term future.

Visit www.granthammuseum.org.uk to join online or send a cheque and your contact details to Grantham Museum, St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, NG31 6PY.
