New look for Corby Glen’s Market Cross Surgery

VILLAGERS in Corby Glen will be treated in a state-of-the-art surgery following the development of a brand new £1.1 million facility.

The purpose-built Market Cross Surgery, in Bourne Road, was officially opened on Friday, with a special celebratory event to mark the project’s completion.

Doctors Ann and Sandy Surtees were given the honour of opening the new build, as they treated patients in the village from 1958 to 1990.

The surgery’s Dr John Elder said: “The building looks fantastic and we would like to thank the Corby Glen Parish Council, Councillor Hill from Lincolnshire County Council, NHS Lincolnshire and MedicX for all their help in supporting us to achieve a long-held goal for the practice, our registered patients and the local community.”

The surgery has relocated entirely to the purpose-built centre, developed by MedicX, from its previous home in Market Place.

It now provides 5,220 sq ft of primary care space, with five consulting rooms, a treatment room, minor surgery and minor injury facilities, and a dispensary, as well as accommodation for the community nursing team and health visitors.

MedicX development manager Jemma Whetton said: “It has been a pleasure to work with NHS Lincolnshire, Dr John and Mary Elder and the team from Market Cross Surgery, who have really embraced the opportunity of delivering a new state-of-the-art medical centre for the residents of Corby Glen and surrounding villages.

“Modern healthcare centres, that can be delivered within budget and provide value for money, are essential for local communities.”
