VIDEO: Sarah needs your help to win singing competition

Waiting for Video...

SONGSTRESS Sarah Beswick is a finalist in a high profile singing competition - and she needs your help to get through to the next round.

Sarah, 21, is a finalist in the regional round of Live and Unsigned, a national competition for acts and bands.

On March 24, she will return to the Birmingham NEC to try to win over a panel of industry judges. And as the audience vote counts, she wants Grantham people to go along and support her.

Sarah, of Harrowby Lane, Grantham, said: “I want to plead with the local community to come and support me.

“I’m hoping to get a lot of music fans to come along and support me. I have tickets to sell at £8 a ticket, and the more who go, the more people who can vote for me in the audience vote.

“Plus there will be a performance by a mystery celebrity performer - it could be someone like Jessie J.”

After finding her voice a year ago, Sarah quickly decided singing is what she wants to do with her life. With dreams of hitting the number 1 spot in the charts, she worked tirelessly to train her voice.

Although she has a real passion for country rock music, Sarah’s repertoire is a mixture of genres.

Searching for ways to get her name out there, she came across an advert for the Live and Unsigned competition, and decided to audition.

Her fiance, John Youens, is a musician and he was able to create a backing track to Etta James’ ‘Hound Dog’, which Sarah performed at the audition on Saturday.

If she goes on to impress the industry judges at the next stage, she will sing at Live Fest at London’s O2 Arena along with the likes of Tynchy Stryder and N-Dubz.

She said: “Imagine that, it would be amazing!”

Sarah sees a singing career as the best way to provide for her two-year-old daughter Emily-Rose.

She said: “If I can do this, we’ll have a nice family house and money coming in and Emily-Rose will have a great life.

“I’m aiming for the top. This is the dream, nothing could compare.

“My job is to perform and make people feel good. I just have to do this.”

Competition prizes total £100,000. As well as the main prize of winning £10,000, exposure, a tour and more, there are ‘mini’ prizes up for grabs.

Sarah hopes to win £250 worth of recording studio time, but to do that she needs to earn points by performing gigs.
