l Earl Brownlow was admitted as Honorary Freeman of the Borough of Grantham at a special celebration in St Peter’s Hill.
l Empire Day was celebrated at Spittlegate School with an exchange of flags with Hornsby of Sydney, Australia. The Union flag was inscribed with the words “From the children of Spittlegate School, Grantham, England to those of Hornsby, Sydney, Australia”.
l Grantham was set to host an athletics event with the quarter-mile champion of Lincolnshire expected to compete.
