Central School cricketers
Cricketers from Central School in 1936.
THERE are plenty of cricket teams out there that would love to have a squad of 20 to call on for their match this weekend.
That’s how many lads, immaculately turned out in their whites, the Grantham Central School Boys Form I Group I could rely on.
The photograph was taken in 1936 and sent in to the Journal by Mr Bennett - himself pictured on the middle row, second from the left - who has provided almost all of the names.
Back row, from left: - Tony Bromley, Don Hopwood, Ford, Chandler, Jeff Blackburn, Ike Hanson, Newbery; middle row - Dave Healey, Boris Bennett, John Parnham, ?, Ron Lamb, Alex York, Ray Maddison.
Front row - Norman Green, Ken Elston, Pete Draper, Maurice Smith, Nobby Clark and Chick Chambers.
