Mr G. J. Fox

MR Graham John Fox, of Old Dalby, has died in the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. He was 53.

He was born in St Mary’s Hospital, Melton Mowbray, and the family lived in Long Clawson.

He attended Long Clawson School, Belvoir High School, Bottesford, and Melton Mowbray Upper School.

After leaving school he worked on local farms and then worked for the council. He joined the Army and served in the Royal Corps of Transport, during which time he went to the Falklands. After six years’ service he left the Army and began his life on the “open road”, working as a lorry driver. Latterly he was employed at S. and J. Transport in Melton, and he enjoyed driving to Belgium, Spain and Scotland. During this time he made many friends.

Mr Fox had a particular love of wildlife, especially birds.

The funeral service was held at St Michael’s Church, Hose, conducted by the Rev Dr Mark Smith. Burial followed in Long Clawson cemetery.

Pall bearers were Paul Lee, Mick Hyde, Larry Wood, Glen Soord and Ian Mcjanet, all from S. and J. Transport, and one of their lorries led the cortege, driven by Mick Burgoine.

Family mourners included: Mrs Joyce Fox, Karina and Matthew Moore and Jamie Spiller and Mrs June Gilbert.

Other mourners included: Pauline Fox, D. Wright, Jenny Rodgers, Mrs M. Etches, Liz Watson, Mrs M. Etches, Brian Janney, Mick Burgoine, Chris Potter, Mel Lee, Linda and Graham Woodford, Steve and Fiona Fitzsimmons, Andrew Chamberlain, Reg and Doris Chamberlain, Kevin Thorpe, Angela Rodgers, Keith Aley, Phil Hayden, Andy Pollard, Christine Pollard, Matthew Haines, Anne Harby, Mary Smith, Mark Turner, Trevor Pollard, Richard Gibbons, Bert and Linda Marples, Peter Pepper, Stephen Haines, Andrew Metcalf, Richard Talbott, Ross Talbott, John Talbott, Steve Leonard, Phil Pugsley and M. Cullington, Carl Musson, Mick Power and Mick Templeton (Belvoir Brewery).

Funeral arrangements were by William Roberts and Sons, Devon Lane, Bottesford.

Donations for the RSPB amount to £141.95 to date.
