Mrs E. E. Pinner

MRS E. E. Pinner, known always as Nell, of St Edmunds Nursing Home, Grantham, has died there. She was 102.

Born in Grantham, she was the middle child of three daughters to George and Sarah Cook.

She was married to Reg for 72 years and had no children of her own, but was Auntie Nell to Michael, Brian, Judy, Paul, Tony and a much-loved ‘adopted’ aunt to Susan and Hazel.

Mrs Pinner was educated at The Girls’ Central School in Grantham.

Before the Second World War she worked in retail shops in Grantham, being a milliner by trade. During and after the war she worked in the booking office at Grantham Station.

She loved knitting, a craft she was brilliant at. Her other interests were dancing, holidaying and cake making. Mrs Pinner also enjoyed organising coffee mornings and afternoon teas.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Family mourners included: Brian Stubley, Lee Coldron, Heather Dakin, Judy Stubley and Tony Bradbury.

Other mourners included: Susan Young, David Young, Robert Young, Ann Jordan, Beryl Allen, Faith and Eric Pell, Myra and Peter Jackson, Reg Jackson, Margaret Clarke, Doreen Goodrum, Mrs L. Pick, Anne and Mick Durrands, Abi Williamson, Eileen Yates, Paula Featherstone, John Wright, Jane Musson, Jackie Edgley, Ann Bennett and George Hare.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the South Lincs Blind Society.
