MRS Jean Mary Bromfield, of Harlaxton Road, Grantham, has died at home. She was 81.

Born in Hough on the Hill, near Grantham, she was the daughter of May and George Turner.

She was the wife of the late Geoff Bromfield, whom she married in 1953.

Originally a clerical assistant at Aveling Barford, she soon moved to D. E. Chandler Limited in Westgate (now Chandlers Farm Equipment Limited), where she was secretary to the managing director for over 40 years.

Mrs Bromfield had a lovely singing voice and sang in the Manthorpe Church Choir for several years. She loved children and enjoyed taking her nephews and nieces to the coast. She enjoyed holidays abroad with her husband, brother and sister-in-law.

Upon retiring, she and Geoff joined Grantham Indoor Bowling Club, where they spent many happy hours.

The Rev Jill Potts conducted the funeral service at St John’s Church, Manthorpe. Burial followed in Manthorpe cemetery.

Coldron, Natalie Dixon, Nigel Aspland, Mr and Mrs P. Manterfield, Iris Hall, Kath Kaptein, Sandra Jennings, Rosemary Caunt, Julie Scoffield, Paul Scoffield, Mr and Mrs Full, Sally Coldron, Ray Biddle, Mrs V. Biddle, Neville Hodson, Ann and Gerald Cock, Christine Cragg, Paula Fytche, Clare Raynor, Dennis Hodgkin, Peggy Hawcock, Joyce Shelbourn, Barbara Stow, Ben Selby, Howard Pell, Ian Wells, Janet Kennedy and Jane Squires.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for Parkinson’s Society and the RSPCA.
