MRS Ruth Nixon, of Great Ponton, has died at home. She was 87.

Born in Grantham, she was the daughter of Harold and Gertrude Stork and one of a large family.

In 1960 she married Ernest Nixon and they made their home in Great Ponton.

Mrs Nixon worked in the canteen at Bjorlows, Grantham, and she was presented with a gold watch after completing 25 years’ service. She then worked in Fine Fare until the store’s closure.

Her interests including watching the birds in her garden and going to bingo. She also joined in village life and activities.

The Rev Eric Lomax conducted the funeral service at Holy Cross Church, Great Ponton. Cremation followed in Grantham.

Mourners included family, close friends and villagers.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshrie Air Ambulance amount to £133 to date.
