Mrs V. M. Barrett

MRS Vera May Barrett, of Huntingtower Road, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 79.

Born in Rippingale, she was the first daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Warrener and sister to Kathleen and Bill. Kathleen has predeceased her.

During her working life she had been a waitress and St Peter’s Hill ‘Picture House Cafe’; a canteen assistant at Ruston and Hornsby; and a school cleaner at Huntingtower Road Primary School.

Mrs Barrett enjoyed walking, cycling, reading and crossword puzzles.

The Rev Alan Littlewood conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Family mourners included: Len Barrett, Stuart Barrett, Julie Redshaw, Jonathan Redshaw, Lee Redshaw and Alice Redshaw.

Other mourners included: Mr and Mrs P. Barrett, Mrs P. Barker, Liley (Gail), Joan Redshaw, Helen White, Dot Bacon, Jean Topps, Mr and Mrs Wakefield, Danny and Beryl Riley, Mr C. Wakefield, Mr P. Wakefield, Margaret Freeston, Mrs Freeston, Andrew Newton, Sally Ann Newton, Joshua Newton, Joel Newton, Hayden Newton, May Cook, Ronald Cook, Christine Cook, Sandra West, Val Anderton, Diane Watson and Elaine Knight.

Funeral arrangements were by David Holland Funeral Directors, London Road, Grantham.

Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to £192 to date.
