Obituary: Mr Sentance
Mr William Sentance (Bill), of Back Lane, Foston, has died in St Edmunds Nursing Home, Worcester Road, Grantham. He was 91.
Born in Barrowby, he was brought up in Foston, the only son of George and S. Lilian Sentance.
At the age of 80 he discovered that he had a half sister, Olive.
The husband of Vi, for 69 years he was also father to Jim, Pat, Trevor and Clive, grandfather to Lisa, Keith, Johanna, John, Victoria and Christopher and great-grandfather to Caoimhe, Leo, Ruby, Joshua, Sophie, Luke and Emelia.
Leaving school at the age of 14 he was one of the first apprentices at Aveling Barford in Grantham. He then worked at their experimental site at Syston. Later he worked for Coles Cranes.
Mr Sentance was involved in the church for many years, being church warden at Allington and later Foston. He was involved in village activities, running the youth club and organising garden fetes and dances.
He enjoyed woodwork, helping friends and neighbours making mechanical parts for repairs. Later he turned his hand to tapestry work, making church kneelers.
The funeral service was held at St Peter’s Church, Foston, conducted by the Rev Alan Littlewood. Cremation followed in Grantham.

Shelton, Priscilla Longi, Rose Stow and Carl and Faith Sentance.
Other mourners included: Andrew Clough, Ted Carling, Dick Blankley, Marion Hare, Mick and Joyce Harrison, Andrew Baggaley, Brenda De’ath, Fred and Pearl Farmer, Barrie and Valerie Cressey, Russell and Sue Winter, Fiona Shilling, Wendy Robinson, Rita Drury, Liz Sordy, Mr T. Myers, Monica Winters, Kathleen Biggs, Andrew Blanchard, Peter Drury, Gillian Drury, Tony Scrimshaw, Liz Brailsford, Kevin Johnson, Beryl Poucher, Jenny Southerland, Christine Newman, Maureen Johnson, Barbara Shepherd, Len Eldridge and Barry Fisher.
Funeral arrangements were by Geeson Funeral Directors, Westgate, Grantham.
Donations were received for St Peter’s Church fabric fund.
