Ghosthunter Nik Stevens wants to find out more about the spirits, spectres, ghouls and apparitions that haunt Grantham - and is looking for your help.
Nik, who moved to Grantham about three months ago, has been fascinated by the supernatural since a close encounter with a poltergeist when he was six years old.

He has already begun researching the spooks of Grantham and has made some startling discoveries.

Among the wraiths that stalk the town are Jasper, a large and dark spirit said to haunt the Angel and Royal Hotel.

Nik said: "He's not a very nice spirit, but he does enjoy a game of chess. They had a chess board in one of the rooms and pieces kept being moved."

Nik has also heard reports of a skeletal hand seen on a mirror in one of the rooms in the hotel.

He said: "You couldn't see it by looking directly into the mirror, but you could see it in the mirror opposite. It was a skeletal hand scratching at the glass.

"It was witnessed by more than one member of staff."

Nearby Catlins has a spectre of its own - a grey lady known to emerge from a doorway that was bricked-up long ago.

Nik said: "I spoke to two ladies who said they used to go to Catlins until the lady told them not too."

Although sceptical about some people's ghost sightings, Nik has had his own brushes with supernatural beings.

When he was a child he believes a poltergeist threw an object across his bedroom while he was in bed.

On a visit to Sempringham Abbey Nik was able to photograph a host of floating luminous orbs which followed him as he walked in the grounds.
Nik said: "I'm very sceptical. I'm interested in it because it's something I've disbelieved for a long time."
