Thursday, 11.15am - BEST ever A Level results are being celebrated at King's School, Grantham, this morning.
Students achieved record-breaking results, with one in seven passiing with four A grades or better.


They recorded the best ever average points score per candidate, percentage of A grades (35.5%) and percentage of A and B grades (61.35%).


The school's overall pass rate is down 1.2 per cent on last year to 98.5 per cent, which staff put down to a change in the way AS Level passes are recorded on official statistics.


Top performing students are Robert Botcherby and Anthony Woodgate, with six A grades.


Mark Gaskell scored five As and a B. Ashley Whitfield, Patrick Briggs, Andrew Lovell, George Twigg, Daniel Wood and Craig Woodhead all achieved five A grades.


In General Studies, George Twigg and Peter Duff are among the top five performing students in the whole country.


George scored full marks with 600 points and Peter scored 597 out of 600.


Christian Davies is in the top 10 of all 1,047 students who sat the Applied Information and Communication Technology (Double Award) exam.


Head of Sixth Form Nigel Barton said: "These result represent a tremendous achievement both individually and collectively and are a testament to the hard work our students put into preparing for the examinations and indeed to the guidance and support provided by staff and parents too."
