A return to Grantham Music Club by Eleanor Parry, arguably the finest violinist Grantham has produced, will undoubtedly be a highlight of the club's forthcoming season.
But her extensive following in the town will have to wait until February 11 to see her. She will be accompanied by pianist Hilary Ford, the pair having thrilled a large audience when they gave a concert at the club in 2006.

The piano figures large in the programme, firstly with the visit, on November 12, of Warren Mailley-Smith, who is acclaimed as one of the country's leading solo pianists of his generation. He has also played concerts in USA, Russia and China. His programme, played on the Lincolnshire Steinway, will include works by Liszt, Chopin and Beethoven.

On January 14, clarinettist Nigel Hinson will be accompanied by pianist Nick Oliver for a concert that will be varied in content and style. Nigel is a regular performer on Classic FM and BBC Radio 3 and runs a music school in Nottingham.

The season will be brought to a close on March 25 by The Barbican Piano Trio, an ensemble with a reputation for exhilarating performances. Their repertoire is extensive and this concert is likely to include works by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.

The traditional Christmas choral concert, on December 3, will be given by The Serlo Consort, who last performed in the area at Sedgebrook Church just over three years ago. Eleven voices will sing songs on a theme of Advent and Christmas music through the ages.

Just six voices, however, will begin the season on October 1 with the first visit to the club of the Six8 Male Voice Ensemble, an a cappella group which performs music from William Byrd to The Beatles.

All concerts are in the hall at Central Technology and Sports College, Rushcliffe Road, with the exception of one in St Wulfram's Church, on May 20, by The William Jewell College Choir.

Again the club offers a reduction in annual subscription if paid before September 9. The rates are single adult £32 (£34 after Spetember 9), couple £60 (£64), senior citizen and concession £28 (£30) and couple concession (£52 and £56).

Programmes, which include a subscription form, are available at a number of outlets including the Guildhall Arts Centre.
