The movie at the Guildhall on Thursday, July 24, is much-acclaimed The Kite Runner (12A) a profoundly emotional tale of friendship, family, devastating mistakes and redeeming love.
It tells the story of Amir, a well-to-do boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, Afghanistan, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant.

After 20 years of living in America, Amir returns to a perilous Afghanistan under the Taliban's iron-fisted rule to face the secrets that still haunt him and take one last daring chance to set things right.

It is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States and the Taliban regime.
