Greg Abate, one of the best post-bebop alto players on the jazz map today, will be playing at the Grantham Conservative Club on Friday, July 18.
He is a great favourite at the club and although his style is unmistakably his own, it embodies overtones of Phil Woods, Art Pepper, Jackie McLean, and Charlie Parker.

He first made a name for himself playing lead alto saxophone with the Ray Charles Orchestra. In the mid-'80s, and then played tenor sax with the Artie Shaw Orchestra.

He will be playing with the John Patrick Trio who were a sensation when backing Simon Spillett at the club recently.

Jazz at the club is extremely popular and tickets usually sell quickly.
