Literature at Lunch focuses on America's greatest playwright

In Literature at Lunch at the Guildhall Theatre on Thursday, Dr Jane Mackay focuses on the life and works of America's greatest playwright, who died recently leaving a wealth wonderful dramas.
Throughout his life and in such plays as Death of a Salesman, Miller refused to accept the great American Dream at face value and never shrank from baring the uncomfortable truths about 20th Century life.
He felt deeply the persecution and injustice of McCarthyism - the disastrous campaign to root out un-American activities by a nation paranoid about Communism - that he paralleled with the Salem witch trials in The Crucible.
