Love and intrigue at open-air theatre

There's still time to see Stamford Shakespeare Company's productions of Romeo and Juliet and Richard III at the superb 600-seat open-air theatre at Tolethorpe Hall.
Romeo and Juliet can be seen from Monday to Saturday, August 4 to 9, and again August 18 to 23.
It is the archetypal love story of two young lovers caught up in the long-standing quarrel between two noble families of Verona, the Montagues and Capulets, which ends in tragedy.
The Bard's Richard III, which can be seen from August 11 to 16 and again from August 25 to 30, is a bit of a history-bender with Richard portrayed as a deformed, ambitious and ruthless man. Despite the enveloping evil in the play the dialogue, true to Shakespeare's style, is interlaced with black comedy.
