04/07/08 - H. J. Tinsley - Here's some ideas to stop lorry drivers bashing into our bridges

* Some years ago on the A8 West of Scunthorpe there was a low bridge protected as follows.
On either side approach, well signposted,was a goalpost type structure over the road. Suspended from the crossbar, on steel chains, were a series of quite heavy looking steel tubes. The tubes obviously at a height to match the bridge.

I can not imagine any driver of a too high vehicle getting past without being alarmed to the situation, maybe less a bit of paint too. A very simple way of warning these drivers very cheaply.
