I WHOLLY agree with K. C. Wingad's letter Council tax does not take into account the ability to pay it. (Journal, May 2).
On the 25th of each month, after all deductions, including rent for my flat, I take home approximately £460.
From that I have to pay gas, electric, food (I have no home phone, I can't afford it). I do not have a computer, so I'm not on the internet. I can't remember the last time I bought new clothes apart from
underwear, my car is off the road as I can't afford to MoT it and insure it.
I'd like to swap my wages with any of these overpaid boffins at the council for a month, or indeed any police officer, and see how they manage to survive.
