18/07/08 - Good memory needed for appointments
Published Date:
18 July 2008
OVER the last four years I have been a patient twice at Grantham Hospital for major cancer surgery and the care and nursing I received at all times was absolutely first class.
I have heard a lot about appointments not being kept. Last week I went for a routine check-up and was told I could be seen at once because two people hadn't turned up.
The doctor said he would see me again in two years. At reception I was asked if I could attend on July 5, 2010. At 80-years-old, my reactions aren't as quick as they used to be, but I said I didn't think I had anything to do that day. They used to send patients a written reminder but probably with so many patients and a shortage of staff, this isn't possible.
