IT is a pity Britain has not adopted the same wind farm strategy as Portugal.
I cannot but help feel that Pandora Mawer, chair of BLOT would be somewhat more welcoming to wind farms in her neighbourhood if she, along with affected local residents got an annual income based on the power generated.

Portugal has gone a stage further with over 20 per cent of revenue also going to the local authority to spend on new schools, roads and community facilities.

As a result Portugal has the highest number of wind farms, providing quality jobs, in Europe. To those who say wind power is not workable, they can explain why Portugal is likely to hit a 45 per cent wind generated energy target soon.

Better wind than coal or nuclear any day. Or, would BLOT be happy to have these in their back yard instead?
