Published Date: 22 August 2008
HOW on earth can Treasury minister Jane Kennedy claim the closure of Grantham's tax office will have "minimal effect on taxpayers" (her response to Quentin Davies' letter) when 11,000 people every year will have to make a return journey to Lincoln to consult with HMRC?

The taxpayers and voters of this area may wonder if there is a plan by the Government to rip the heart out of Grantham as a punishment for being the birthplace of Maggie Thatcher – or is it just further evidence of their obsession with enforcing inept centralised control on everything?
