26/09/08 - Police do not take any interest in solving crimes

I was shopping in Grantham and had to buy the paper when I saw the headlines.
The comments the police inspector made just makes my blood boil. I carry out building maintinance work including securing sites and buildings after a break-in. Many a time the firms involved have cctv evidence of the break-in but the police have not been interested. They only want to issue crime numbers over the phone. Once we rang the police because a child had just smashed a car window. We had cctv of the whole event.
The police said it was up to the owner of the car to report it. We even told them the kids were still there and where they had hidden the weapon. They were still not interested. If the police attended more crimes and the courts issued tougher sentences they would not attempt crime. If the punishments were harsher we would not have to hide every thing away like now because the police are not capable of doing their job.
