THE Barrowby Scarecrow Festival attracted a lot of attention from people passing through the village.
Organisers Carole and Terry Retford and Brian Inglis were pleased with the enthusiasm generated in the village and the 22 scarecrows that were made for the event recently.
Brian said: “Scarecrows might usually be designed to deter attention, but the first Barrowby Scarecrow Festival attracted both imaginative makers and amused, as well as sometimes bemused, spectators.
“Lots of village people and many passers-by came to look at them and walk around the village to see the scarecrows in people’s gardens and the one at the church.”
The festival raised £350 over the two days.
Brian added: “The event aimed to bring people together in friendly straw-based competition whilst businesses sponsored a scarecrow to provide funds for the recently-founded monthly village newsletter.”
Organisers hope to make the festival an annual event. They would like to thank; Robert Holland, Grantham Physiotherapy, Helen’s Flowers, Galaxy Fish Bar, Hodgson Solutions, LAC Groundwork, and Simon Butler for their support.
