l A Ropsley labourer was accused of hitting a boy while playing cricket. The victim had fought with a girl when the accused struck him several times. Mr Freeston claimed self-defence and the case was dismissed.

l Fred Pruden died after having a seizure whilst working in a Grantham workshop. The 63-year-old was taken home but died before he arrived.
