WEEKS of hard work were put in by these Vale of Belvoir children for Belvoir High School’s production of the children’s classic, Bugsy Malone.
It was “slurge gun” against custard pie as the school put on two shows in July, 1986 for parents and friends, telling the story of gang warfare in 1920s New York.
The child actors and actresses all adopted American accents for their roles, with Brigitte Fidler in the role of Bugsy.
The cast numbered more than 50 but the main characters were, along with Bigitte, Emma Lewis, Elizabeth Harrison, Matthew Smith, Louanne Saddington, Tim Hallama and Adam Cox.
Fat Sam’s Gang included Lee Shields, Guy Watford, Paul Kitchener, Darren Beacroft, Paula Wadsworth and Catherine Mackley, while Dandy Dan’s gang featured Joanne Parkes, Sarah Johnson, Mary Broome, Georgia Cotterill and Yvonne Cassidy.
