Have your say

You’ve heard of five-a-side football but some among you may never have come across six-a-side cricket.

Well these gentlemen from Castle Bytham CC were apparently very good at it!

They triumphed in the Bourne six-a-side competition in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

The photograph was sent in by Pete Kiely who is pictured on the middle of the back row.

Pete said: “I remember we couldn’t get out team photograph taken out at Bourne so we had to wait until we came back to Castle Bytham.

“You don’t get six-a-side cricket as much now. There used to be a regular competition at Bourne and one at Burghley Park but they seem to have died off now.”

With five fielders covering the whole of the field, we can’t think why the game lost its popularity!
