DO you recognise any face from this photograph, believed to have been taken before the First World War?
The picture was sent in by Ann Bramley of Manthorpe who came across it while researching her upcoming book on the history of the village.
The photograph was passed to Ann at a village event but enquiries have so far failed to uncover the identities of a single person.
Ann said: “Looking at the hats, skirts and blouses on the girls and the Eaton collars on the boys, it looks like it was around the time of the First World War.
“I don’t know where it came from. The only thing I can probably think is that it might have something to do with the Mothers’ Union which was flourishing at the time - but that’s a bit of a guess really.”
Ann suspects it was taken in Manthorpe but is hoping Journal readers can shed more light on the origins.
She is currently working on a book about the history of Manthorpe, including many village stories and the history of each house.
She hopes to have it completed by the end of the month and published later this year.
