CAN you imagine any of these fancy dan modern day footballers with their space-age boots, winter gloves and million pound pay packets performing half a dozen self-indulgent step overs in shorts like these?
I think not.
With their slick side-partings sported by 90 per cent of the team and the skipper carrying the king of football that would leave an indellible scar on the forehead of any poor soul who dared to head it, these youngsters are clearly from another era altogether.
The Grantham School Boys’ Football Team of 1947/48 are wearing button-down shirts smarter than today’s youth would wear to a court appearance. No logos, no sponsors and I dare say they didn’t all have their names emblazoned across their shoulder blades so everyone watching knows exactly who’s just been booked for diving.
