THESE ladies were celebrating darts success in the old Horse & Jockey pub in Grantham.

The six ladies were most likely toasting success in the local ladies’ league. Russ Perkins sent the photograph in on behalf of Zena Johnson, who is pictured on the far right of the photo.

Mr Perkins said: “Zena Johnson is my auntie and her mum, Kate Palethorpe (pictured second from the right), was the landlady of the Horse & Jockey pub at the time.

“I think Zena is the only lady pictured who is still alive today.”

If the Horse & Jockey was still standing today it would be next door to the Journal office.

Pictured are, from left: Beatrice Palethorpe, Annie Dowd, Florrie Green, Elsie Woodward, Kate Palethorpe, Zena Johnson (nee Palethorpe).
