Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School’s under-16 hockey team enjoyed a memorably successful year in 1987.

The team triumphed in the Lincolnshire Under-16s age group to take the county title once again for their school.

The girls faced a fierce day of competition, playing seven matches, each lasting 20 minutes, in one Saturday in Boston.

They recorded victories over Caistor, Sleaford, St Joseph and William Farr as the team remained unbeaten throughout the hectic day.

The KGGS team also managed three goalless draws in their other games against Spalding, the home side Boston and Cordeaux of Louth to ensure they finished comfortably clear at the top of the table at the close of the day’s play.
