SINGER Roy Dolby got in touch this week to reminisce on some of his career in music.
Roy recalls performing two shows with Matt Monro before the singer became one of the most popular entertainers around during the 1960s.
On the same show in 1958, the Journal reported how police had to be called when 200 fans surrounded Marion Ryan’s dressing room eager to meet the star and sign autographs.
Roy came out on top in a local talent contest in the late 50s, beating the Vagabonds into second place with his Al Jolson impressions.
Roy, of Robertson Road, Grantham, is now in his 70s but is still performing to this day with the Grantham Singers.
