A TIMELY Memory Lane brought in this week featuring former Grantham teacher John Cattermole, who sadly died at the weekend.

Mr Cattermole taught at Central Technology College for more than 20 years but this photograph features Mr Cattermole during his years at Blessed Hugh Moore School in Grantham which closed in the 1980s.

The photograph was sent in by Nick Perry who is pictured on the extreme right of the front row.

Nick said: “He was a very popular and well liked teacher who was involved a lot in football teams and the youth centre - all different things.”

The photograph appeared in the Journal in April, 1976 and accompanied a story about pupils raising money for people living in remote areas of Kenya.

Pictured are (front row, from left) Matt Schofield, Neil O’Keefe, Martin Kelly, Grant Lowe, Andrew Hayson, Nick Perry; (middle row) Carole Sherry, Marie Fraher, unknown, Bridgette McGarvey and Deborah Evans. Mr Cattermole is standing on the right. People on the back row are unknown.
