MEMBERS of The Tuesday Club got together recently to hear an intriguing talk by a former police officer about crime scene investigations.
The talk by Andrew Greenslade entitled ‘Body in the Bog’ is just one of many that the members have heard over the last few months when they meet at the Methodist Church, in Finkin Street, Grantham.
As the name suggests, they meet on the first Tuesday of each month to listen to guest speakers, play bingo, or just to socialise.
Club chairman Joan Cardus said: “It’s more of social thing than anything.
“We’ve heard quite a range of speakers from ex-police officers to helpful talks on consumer rights. It’s very informative.”
But the club is not just about learning and getting information, the meetings are also fun.
The next one is on July 3 and will include a talk on Dennetts Ice Cream, which includes a tasting.
The Tuesday Club currently has around 20 members but they are always looking for more people to join in the group, which was originally formed by retired workers from Marks and Spencer.
People can join the club for £15 a year or just pay £2.50 to attend when a particular meeting grabs their interest. There is always a cup of tea and piece of cake available and it is open to anybody of any age.
Talks usually start at around 2pm and last for around 40 minutes.
