On Friday, March 1, Grantham band The Protoneers will be supporting the Kaiser Chiefs at the Brixton Jamm in London.

The event celebrates the end of the Kaiser Chief’s whirlwind 14-date UK tour, which will finish at the 02 that evening before moving on to Brixton for the after-party.

Drummer Matt Seymour said :“It is a credit to us that we have been given this opportunity to play at what is a high level venue in London on the same bill as a top band.”

Formed in 2009 and influenced by bands such as the Rolling Stones and the Arctic Monkeys, this is not the first time The Protoneers will have appeared in reputed venues, having already played at Islington’s O2 Academy 2, The Maze in Nottingham, Lincoln’s ‘Red Room’, The Shed in Leicester and t Live and Unsigned, the largest music competition for original artists in the UK.

Sam Thomas, vocalist and guitarist along with Dan Wicks, said: “It’s a great opportunity for us as a band to step up, and perform at the next level.”

Dan added: “For us as The Protoneers this will be our biggest and highest profile gig to date. It’s a lot more pressure and we really do have to play to the occasion.”

The Brixton Jamm can host up to 600 people and big names that have played there in the past include the Arctic Monkeys, The View and Adele.

Bass guitarist Nick Deal said: “We are very much looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd, and hopefully will show everyone what we are all about.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 and can be purchased via the band’s facebook page or by e-mailing theprotoneers@live.com

Their new single “Times They Roll” is now available on iTunes.
