Grantham choir will sing for Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Grantham's Choir Invisible will perform for Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Paris.
CHOIR Invisible will be performing for Archbishop Desmond Tutu and 1,000 delegates in Paris on December 10.
The Grantham-based choir, formerly known as The Desmond and Leah Tutu Peace Choir, was invited to the UNESCO headquarters on the anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.
Director Sally Brown said: “The coming months will be an incredible time for our 90 singers, learning absolutely stunning soul and gospel songs. And our speciality, the heart songs of Southern Africa all especially chosen for the concert of a lifetime at UNESCO.”
The choir, which recently performed at the Latitude festival and released a song on the World Music Network label, took the lead role in a Cultural Olympiad project in which words written by Mr Tutu were set to music by songwriter Tim Dalling and arranged by Sally.
She said: “To be asked to do this is an unimaginable honour. It will be almost impossible to keep our emotions in check as we sing Desmond Tutu’s own song to him!”
The choir will be premiering their music for Paris at their own special concert in Southwell Minster on December 1 and on the morning of the concert in Paris they will sing to visitors to Notre Dame.
Sally added: “We currently have a few spaces for strong, confident and passionate singers. Get in touch quickly if that sounds like you!” Email info@choirinvisible.co.uk
