Grantham pupil Hermione reviews Sleeping Beauty

Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School Year 7 pupil Hermione Clark has reviewed Sleeping Beauty, the recent pantomime at Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre.

She wrote: The drama skill in this performance was amazing and was kept up at all times; it was also nice to see a few younger faces in it as well!

There was no forgetting of lines, and some of the songs sung were pitched perfect. I think my favourite character overall was “Nanny”. A female character, who at first seemed like a lovely old lady, but then you found out that she was actually looking for a man and was a bit cheeky at times with a member or two of the audience! It made it even more hilarious knowing that the person playing the part was male, so he could do a wonderful voice to go with the part.

I also loved Muddles, which was a character of fun more like a clown, who got his words muddled up a lot of the time with the

princes. I think he and the beautiful good fairy were mainly the ones who made it a panto, with all of the calling back and

forth with the audience.

The wicked witch was also very good, and scary! She gave me a fright!

And you can’t forget the King, Beauty and the marvellous handsome Prince Harry. They were all superb.

I also liked how they added a little twist to the story by adding a few modern things! I think the only thing that I think they could have improved on is when some background music came on you couldn’t really here what the actor or actress was saying over the top. I think maybe they could have turned the music down a little bit.

But apart from that it was a truly good panto.
