Grantham youth group needs young male actors for Footloose show

A youth group is urgently looking for young male performers to take part in its production of Footloose.

The Guildhall Arts Centre’s group Down 2 Earth needs males aged from 14 to 19 to audition. The group is looking for at least four main male roles to fill and several male ensemble roles.

Auditions take place on Tuesday and Thursday this week and next week (November 27, 5.45pm-7.30pm, and November 29, 5.30pm-7pm). Those wishing to audition need to prepare a song of their choice to sing, and a brief monologue that demonstrates their acting ability. Monologues can be provided on the night if needed.

Footloose is the hit musical telling the story of life in the small town of Bomont which remains peaceful until city boy Ren arrives. Breaking every taboo, Ren brings dance back to the heart of a town held back by the memory of a tragedy. The musical features classic 80s anthems Holding Out for a Hero, Let’s Hear it for the Boy, and the title track Footloose, and is ideal for young people wishing to develop their acting, dancing and singing skills in a professional theatre environment.

The production will be staged from April 18 to 20, 2013. Rehearsals for the show will begin in January when all cast members will be needed from 5pm to 7pm on Fridays.

Anybody interested in auditioning should contact Anna Wilson on 07762 941188 or email a.wilson@southkesteven.gov.uk
