Grantham’s glorious past takes centre stage
Vince Eager will be performing on Saturday night.
A PACKED weekend of events will celebrate all that is great about Grantham’s illustrious history - beginning on Friday (Feb 10).
The series of events, featuring music from Vince Eager, historical talks and exhibitions, has been organised by Gravity FM.
Organiser Dennis Kay said: “There’s going to be a great selection and we want people to come down, get involved and remember the area.”
The event kicks off with a free talk on Friday at 2pm by former Grantham Journal news editor John Pinchbeck. The talk is entitled “Grantham’s Got History” and will be held in the Guildhall Theatre.
On Saturday, a Grantham Nostalgia exhibition will be held in the Guildhall Arts Centre featuring memorabilia and local historians talking about their specialist fields - from the Second World War to entertainment, as well as a special selection of Laurel and Hardy photos.
The exhibition is free and will be held in the Newton Room at the Guildhall Arts Centre. It will run from 2.30pm until 4.30pm.
People are encouraged to bring along their own memorabilia on the day.
On Friday night “Vince Eager and the Geriatrics” will be performing. The line-up will feature Eager himself, along with Brian “Licorice” Locking, Trevor Leeson and more.
However, the performance has already sold out.
