A NEW eaterie is coming to Grantham - and with it a very familiar name.

Readers might remember what was China 88 on the corner of London Road and St Catherine’s Road in Grantham, once owned by Arri Bharwani.

Well, he’s back and bringing another buffet-style restaurant to town, more specifically to the former Internacionale clothing store in The George Centre, where builders are currently working to make it ready for the opening night.

Arri 88 World Buffet is expected to open by the start of November, and will be a 100-seat restaurant serving cuisine from across the world.

The buffet will be predominantly made up of Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mexican dishes, with specialties from other countries making guest appearances.

This is a £200,000 investment for owner Arri, who is excited to be returning to Grantham.

He said: “We promised three years ago to our customers that we would come back and now we are.

“We looked at about 10 sites. This is right because of the location and size, because we have decided to go a bit smaller than we were at China 88.

“It really is good news for Grantham - I think we’ve been sorely missed. We’ve got about 150 customers from this area that regularly travel to my restaurant in Spalding to eat so that would appear to be a good starting point.”

A stage is being built in the corner of the premises where soft music will be played live on Friday and Saturday evenings. Also adding to the atmosphere, Arri hopes, is an open-plan kitchen so diners can see the hustle and bustle of chefs as they work.

Hilary Pearce, centre manager of The George Centre, is pleased to be filling an empty premises.

She said: “It is fantastic news to have Arri back in Grantham.

“This time he will be joining us here at The George, an excellent compliment to the eateries already well established here in the centre, offering a buffet style menu from around the world.”
