A season of classical concerts in beautiful rural churches around the district gets underway on Thursday (May 31).

The first concert in the Music in Quiet Places series will take place at St Andrew’s Church, Billingborough.

The show, called An Apple For My Love, will be performed by Eclipse, pictured, who will take the audience on a journey through music, song, dance and legends of the British Isles in a feast of Irish jigs, English folk songs, Celtic legends, baroque grounds and Purcell songs.

Joined by dancer Steven Player and tenor Nicholas Hurndall Smith, An Apple For My Love has been hailed for generous measures of “outrageous virtuosity” balanced with “the most sublime and beautiful singing”.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £12, £11 for concessions, £7 for under 16s or a series discount of £55 and £50 for concessions.

The series also includes: O Duo, St Swithun’s Church, Long Bennington, Thursday June 14, 7.30pm; Florin Ensemble, St Andrew’s Church, West Deeping, Thursday June 28, 7.30pm; Juice, St Andrew & St Mary’s Church, Stoke Rochford, Thursday July 12, 7.30pm; Toki Quartet, St Mary & St Peter’s Church, Harlaxton, Thursday July 26, 7.30pm.
