Talk on the book ‘The Quiet American’

GRAHAM Greene’s ‘The Quiet American’ is next in the Literature at Lunchtime series at the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham.

The book, published in 1955, explores journalist Greene’s depiction of an idealistic young American in Vietnam, spreading ‘democracy’ and its resulting death and chaos.

Dr Jane Mackay will lead the talk on Thursday, followed by the showing of the 2002 film, starring Michael Caine. The talk will begin at noon and end at 1pm, with the film showing at 2pm.
