Wednesday, 1.45pm - INDEPENDENT estate agency Countyparks went into liquidation yesterday.
The collapse of the business, which was set up by Diane Park and her husband three years ago, has led to the loss of seven jobs in total.

The office in Watergate, Grantham, closed with immediate effect and all vendors, landlords and tenants received letters explaining the situation.

Mrs Park said: "We not only raised the standards of estate agency in Grantham but set the benchmark, to which others now aspire.

"The current economic climate has claimed some of the best and it is to this that we attribute our demise.

"We would like to thank all the staff for their dedicated and unwavering support.

"We would also like to thank all of our vendors for their continued support during these difficult times."

Properties which were on Countyparks books will now be marketed by Escritt Barrell Golding, in St Peter's Hill.

A spokesman for EBG said: "As long established estate agents and chartered surveyors, we appreciate the confidence Countyparks have displayed in our firm by transferring their properties over to us.

"We are sadden by the demise of Countyparks, and are aware Diane and her team have built up a good reputation in Grantham and wish all of them success in the future."

Mrs Park will continue to manage the property management and lettings side of the business until a buyer is found.

YOUR COMMENTS:

Despite the dig at our strap line "raising the standard of estate agency" and the benefit to us of one less agent in town, I am saddened for Mr and Mrs Park that Countyparks have closed.

They were a credible competitor and it is indicative of the market we are in that this has happened.

I know how much hard work and money goes into running a business and wish them well for the future.
